What alternatives to siloed, static, or linear job trajectories do public scholars, designers, and artists generate? How are skills associated with one discipline applied to something else, in some cases by moving between an academic position and on-the-ground engagement? Submissions may include reflection on, analysis of, or strategies for expanding beyond the mono-disciplinary framing in which one’s position may be rooted; employment conceived as interdisciplinary; collaborations between and among different sectors; or development of other expertise to handle the expansive projects to which artists, designers, and scholars in public life may be drawn. Public is also interested in how graduate students and other pre-professionals pursue such pathways.

We welcome the following formats, linked to the theme of the issue:

• Features (critical pieces in any or multiple media, single or collaboratively authored, narrative or interview format);
• Resources and Exchange (innovative research methods, syllabi, assignments, et cetera, at any level); and
• Proposals for Reviews (of relevant cultural events).
